John D. Williams, Chairman & CEO

John is a thirty-five year veteran of the financial services industry. He is one of the original co-founders of CFG. He holds ChFC® and CLU® designations from The American College, a Registered Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP #255854) designation from The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, a BA from Creighton University and an MA in Theological Studies from the Boston College School of Theology. He is a member of the Boston Estate Planning Council, The American Society of Financial Service Professionals and The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.  John and his wife Mary Ann have two grown children, Jonathan and Anna.  John ran for and was elected to three terms, serving nine years as a Selectman in his hometown of Carlisle, MA.  Avocations include running and classical guitar.

James D. Lee, Chief Operations Officer & Chief Compliance Officer

James joined CFG in 1996 and has 20 years of experience in the financial services industry. He provided comprehensive financial and estate plans for high net worth clients in his former role as Director of Planning. He continues to handle the ‘core’ of CFG’s clients’ financial/estate plans in coordination with other members of the planning department as well as CFG’s sub-advisor, Ingalls & Snyder. In addition, he oversees the daily operations, execution and administration of complete client services. James holds a BA from the University of Nevada. He enjoys all outdoor sports to include hiking, mountain biking, kayaking, snowboarding and rock climbing. James lives in Newton, MA with his wife Anne and daughter Cai Lin.

Bill Doran, Vice Chairman

Bill has over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry including two years as a Director at CFG on the Investment Committee. The bulk of his career was spent at Morgan Stanley (24+ years) where he was a Managing Director in charge of the FX Futures Trading Group and FX Electronic Trading. Bill is currently a member of the College of the Holy Cross’ Board of Trustees where he is Chairman of the Athletics Committee and has served on the HC Investment and Finance Committees as well. Bill volunteer coaches varsity basketball at Cristo Rey New York High School and holds a BA from the College of the Holy Cross and an MBA from the Tuck School at Dartmouth. Bills lives with his wife Susan and their three daughters in New York City.

Eric S. Phillips, CFP®, Director of Advanced Planning

Eric joined CFG in 2013 with more than 25 years of diversified financial services experience including more than 8 years in the financial planning and wealth management areas. He holds the General Securities Representative (FINRA Series 7) license and is a Certified Financial Planner™ professional. Over his career Eric has served in many capacities for several mutual fund companies, two brokerage firms, an insurance company and a Registered Investment Advisor all in the Greater Boston area. He has volunteered as a coach for the Framingham United Soccer Club for the last 5 years and is an Eagle Scout mentor for Boy Scout Troop 78. His hobbies include DIY projects, playing guitar and occasionally stopping by the gym. Eric, his wife Gail and 12-year old son Zach live in Framingham, MA.

Cintia Kempkes, CFP®, Senior Vice President

Cintia brings over a decade of financial planning experience from JP Morgan Private Bank, US Trust, Credit Suisse Private Bank, and USAA Wealth Management. Her professional experience has allowed her to hone her skills in each of the dimensions of financial planning, including investments, lending, liability management, retirement, and trust and estate planning. Cintia will be based in New York City as part of our strategic partnership with Ingalls and Snyder LLC. Cintia will advise clients by creating and implementing customized and holistic financial and estate plans. Cintia, a native of Romania, lives with her husband in New York City and enjoys art, cuisine, and international adventure travel.

Kevin Daley, Senior Financial Advisor

Kevin has been in the financial services industry for 25 years. Most of his career was in the U.S. Treasuries and Brokerage business areas serving as a Desk Manager and Senior Vice President at Euro-Brokers/BGC Partners. Kevin is a regular volunteer at a local homeless shelter and is active in Toastmasters International. He enjoys golf, oil painting and fitness. Kevin holds a BA from the College of the Holy Cross and an MBA from the Fordham Gabelli School of Business. Kevin and his wife Joan live in Fairfield, CT and are the proud parents of a daughter, Erin, and son Matthew.

Joseph Carballeira, Senior Financial Advisor

Joe has worked for over 30 years in multi-national financial companies serving high net worth and institutional clients. His roles have included both line and management positions in trading, sales, underwriting, arbitrage and brokering execution. Joe was responsible for the start up and launch of two U.S. Treasury primary dealers as well as the establishment of a fixed income voice/electronic broker. He also served as head of sales and new product development for an equity long/short hedge fund. Joe holds a BA from the College of the Holy Cross as well as Series 7 and 63 FINRA licenses. He and his wife Katie live in New York City and have two children, Billy and Caroline. Joe enjoys coaching high school basketball, playing golf and tennis and listening to music.

Victor T. Gainor, III, Senior Vice President, Advanced Markets

Vic has more than 30 years of corporate and entrepreneurial experience in financial services; including more than 16 years at TIAA-CREF.  While there, he managed the company’s individual insurance product portfolio and drove the creation of TIAA’s Advanced Markets Unit where he led a team of estate planning attorneys and insurance professionals delivering sophisticated solutions to high net worth individuals.  Vic has a BA from New York University and also holds numerous professional designations.  Additionally he holds FINRA Series 7 & Series 66 licenses, is a Registered Investment Advisor in New York and New Jersey and is a licensed life and health insurance producer in those states.  Vic is a voracious reader, an avid tennis and squash player, enjoys adventure travel and loves living at the Jersey Shore.  His favorite people are his children Catie and Victor.

Christopher Bentley, Senior Financial Advisor

Chris has over 20 years of experience in the financial services industry where he began his career in equity capital markets helping to bring Initial Public Offerings to the public.  He then spent the majority of his career as a currency trader for top tier banks Morgan Stanley, BNP Paribas and Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi.  Chris holds a BA from Harvard University in Economics.  He volunteers as a coach for girls lacrosse and girls basketball.  He is a musician and an avid fan of music who has recently released a self-produced full length album that is being globally distributed on major websites.  Chris lives on Long Island with his wife Liz, his son and two daughters.

Leslie Martinez, Executive Administrator

Leslie moved from Puerto Rico and joined CFG after an extensive career in the surety insurance industry. Prior to that, she was the Executive Assistant to a partner at one of the largest law firms in Puerto Rico. She graduated Cum Laude from Aquinas College, Milton, MA, where she earned an Associate’s Degree in Science with a concentration in business law. Leslie is a certified paralegal. She is fluent in Spanish and English and understands French and Italian.

Michael Toomey, Retired Shareholder

Mr. Toomey is a thirty-year veteran of the financial services industry and a co-founder of Capital Formation Group, Inc. Mr. Toomey retired from CFG in 2009 and lives in Framingham, MA with his wife Joyce.
